Valentino

I normally don't look to fashion for inspiration. I tend to just see something in my environment, whether it is travelling or at home, a memory is triggered or the blend of colours gets me thinking and I just start to fiddle and it goes from there. Having said this, Valentino does get my heart racing. I absolutely love his designs. For my birthday in March I asked my husband for the Valentino book I had been lusting after for a while. It is such an amazing book and gives a history of Valentino up until his retirement. Every time I look through this book my heart flutters. The frills, the pleats, the layering, embroideries, feathers and bows and ribbons and I could just go on and on and on. What most inspires me though is that he says he followed and kept true to his own style. He did not look to see what others were doing, he followed his instinct. He goes on to say that he hopes this served him well.

Yes Mr Valentino it served you well.

I know the book has been out for a couple of years so I am sure many have seen the insides but I thought I would share some of my favourite pages. And Yes I will be at the Valentino exhibition in Brisbane this August with daughter in hand, as I doubt very much my husband is as keen to see it as I am.

Enjoy
