Here I am back at home in Brisbane from a month away. And yes here Sylvester lies seeming to get back into the swing of things, to resume life as before the holidays. As if nothing has happened. However that's not the case.
What a week it's been here in Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I didn't feel like blogging as what could I possibly say after the catastrophic week thousands of people have had. I don't know about anyone else, but I was glued to the television, watching all the news reports and reading every article. I cried as I read the stories of people who lost family, neighbours, friends, homes and pets. Let us not forget the children and the mothers of the children who were swept from their arms. As a mother myself you cannot begin to imagine nor do you want to.
My side of town was unaffected and it is business as usual. So it is hard to believe that a great deal of the city was flooded and so many lives changed and destroyed. It is easy for us then, to continue life as usual and yes we have to, as that is the nature of it.
So today, I want to dedicate my blog post to all those who lost their lives in the floods and to those who risked theirs to save others. So when I am on my merry way with life, I will look back on this post and remember all those lives.
